The Parkrose Teachers Levy will begin the important work of building a future where our schools are completely funded, where children have the opportunities that every other Oregon child has, and a future they deserve.
Parkrose Teachers Levy could change the future of our schools.
- Get The Facts -
The Parkrose Teachers Levy will:
Safeguard Our Schools
For too long, Parkrose schools have had to cut budgets due to poor state funding — and this year is no exception.
-
Lack of funding takes teachers out of classrooms, increases class sizes, and means that the kids who struggle the most don't get the support they need.
-
Our schools will have to cut programs like PE, Art and Music — programs that keep our kids healthy and help them learn.
Make Financial Sense
The Parkrose School District has always worked to run our schools in the most efficient and responsible way, keeping administration costs as low as possible. And yet, we still have to cut budgets. If the Parkrose Teachers Levy passes, we would be able to have 5 years of stable funding. Here’s how it works:
-
The Parkrose Teachers Levy will go directly to classrooms. No funds will be used for district administration.
-
An independent committee will make sure it gets spent the way it should.
-
If passed, Measure 26-254 will bring in about $3.6 million for Parkrose School District beginning in the school year 2025 - 2026.
-
Measure 26-254 will propose a levy of an extra $1.25 per $1,000 of assessed property value. What does that mean? For a home with a current average assessed value of $250,000, the levy cost is about $26 per month.
Protect Our Classrooms
The Parkrose Teacher’s Levy will protect class sizes, keep teachers in classrooms, and make sure students who are struggling the most have the support they need to thrive.
-
It will fund approximately 28 teaching and classroom support positions annually over five years.
-
When we protect class sizes we protect our children’s ability to learn, grow and thrive.
-
It would make sure that our kids have access to programs and services they deserve for a bright future, which in turn helps build a stronger, more resilient Parkrose.
Build a Strong Future
for Parkrose
The Parkrose Teachers Levy will help build a strong future for our children and our whole community. How?
-
Kids in schools today are our future architects, landscape contractors, medical professionals, teachers, and more. The Parkrose Teachers Levy is an opportunity to invest in their future.
-
Measure 26-254 will help our kids get the learning and support they need to succeed, graduate, and continue building our beloved Parkrose community.
-
When kids connect with their teachers, they are more confident and more resilient. By protecting teacher positions, we’re protecting the future of our kids and, in turn, our community as they grow and contribute to Parkrose.
-
